Mother Tongue Matters is a poster I designed for the “Mother Tongue” exhibition, launched by INDIGO (International Indigenous Design Network) in Montreal, Canada.
This is an innovative, multi-disciplinary online exhibition that seeks to capture the power of language—verbal and visual, formal and informal.
This simple design is made of a kraft paper as human skin tone with English letters as stigmata.
I also created a sticker for the paper poster which viewers can use to print their own mother tongue scripts on and put onto the upper part of the heart. The digital version bears poems of Ferdowsi, the great Persian Poet as my mother tongue and the next one in Arabic script.
